If you're a frugal family like us, you most likely skip on 3D movies and just watch them "regular D". I am telling you right now that you need to shell out the extra bucks and watch this movie in 3D. This movie, in my humble opinion, trumps Avatar and every other movie as far as 3D-anything. The effects, the scenes, textures, etc. You know that illusion the 3D commercials give you when they have the scenes jumping out of the television screen because they are in "3D"? Well, in this case it's true. You're going to feel as though your a part of the scenes in some places, you're going to have a front row seats to the fights, the games, everything!
I have a four year old boy who enjoyed the movie but wasn't crazy about the fight scenes involving the animals. I also took my six year old niece who liked it but was a little freaked out about the huge sharp teeth on the bears. It seems that Disney and Pixar got a little "dark" in Brave, so it might actually do good with older kids too since there's fighting, ghost-like creatures and huge animals.
