Potty training a boy - Round 2 | @PullUpsBigKid #EveryFlush

It's just about that time again... potty training time. A time when all across the country, mamis are doing double-duty on laundry and floor washing, all while trying to convince the kid that it really is better to use the toilet than the diaper.

As a mom participating in Pull-Ups' Madrinas del Baño campaign, I get to share my trials and tribulations of this "wonderful" stage. But at least this time, I get to have Pull-Ups motivating moms like me to stick with potty training AND I can take advantage of the FREE Pull-Ups Big Kid App.

So far, my 19 month old has got the whole "poop in the toilet" down. He's had this issue with going "number 2" in his diaper for a very long time now, so using the toilet is great. I just stick the kiddie toilet seat on the big one and we're good to go. Sometimes, especially if he's taking a very, very long time, I'll place the iPad on the bathroom counter so he can entertain himself that way while he goes.

Then I see products where they basically take my brilliant idea of using the iPad as an incentive and strap it onto a potty and it has me wondering if it would make my life easier. I'm seriously tempted to get it, but the idea of having to clean the little potty is almost too much for me.

Honestly, teaching a kid to use the toilet is extremely tiring, and there is a lot of waiting. Plus, how can you tell your kid that it's actually better to use the toilet to do their business, rather than the portable "toilet" that they have strapped on to them? You can't!

I am going through this potty training process a second time and I'm having a hard time not comparing him to my first. My first kid was potty trained by 2 years and 3 months. A lot of the timing with my first one had to do with the belief that children should be trained by the time they are two years old. However, experts say you shouldn’t start training your little one until you see that they are ready. But my baby has me really confused since he only pees in the diaper.

This time around, I'm happy that I have a lot of resources at my disposal, especially the Pull-Ups Big Kid app. This useful app has a host of great features including games, phone calls from their favorite Disney characters, a potty timer and a other great features. I hope my kid is ready to get this potty training on the road... because it's game on!
